How to Search Google Scholar

How to Access GCC Resources Through Google Scholar (from on-campus and off-campus)

When using Google Scholar on any GCC campus, you will see a link to Get Full-text at GCC when full-text is available for an item. You will also see a link to More, Get Resources @ GCC underneath many articles, and this will allow you to order an item for free via Interlibrary Loan.

When using Google Scholar on an off-campus computer, or when using wireless on campus, you will need to set your Google Scholar preferences in order to see the Get Full-text at GCC links.

To set your preferences, go to the top left corner of the Google Scholar page, and click on the three lines to the left of the word Google, and click on Settings or the gear symbol.

Click on the “Library Links” menu option, and look up either Genesee Community College or GCC, and select us as one of your libraries.  Save your preferences.

This will save your preference for your current session, but you may have to set it up again the next time you log on. The preferences are tied to your IP address, which can change if your service provider uses dynamic (changing) IP addresses for your connection.

If you have a Google Account, you can save your preferences and they will stay with your account every time you log on.
