Genesee Community College offers three distinct divisions of Genesee Promise Plus, all featuring excellent scholarship opportunities for students to take classes at GCC this summer. GPP offers new adult college students the opportunity to enroll in one summer course at GCC. Seniors (soon-to-be graduates) and Juniors (or rising Seniors) may enroll in up to two summer courses at GCC.

Juniors in High School / Homeschool Students

Who is Eligible?

Genesee, Livingston, Orleans or Wyoming County high school juniors, also known as “rising seniors,” including homeschool students, who have finished their junior year of high school are eligible for a GPP Scholarship covering the cost of tuition for two courses up to eight credits.

This also includes students in Chesterton Academy of Buffalo, Young Women’s College Prep, Royalton Hartland, Pioneer, Springville, Holland, Wayland-Cohocton, Honeoye Falls-Lima, Lima Christian, Akron, West Valley, Fillmore, Rush-Henrietta, Wheatland Chili, Churchville Chili, Bloomfield, Brockport, Ellicottville, Franklinville and Barker Schools.

GPP Scholarship funding is available for either Summer Session. Placement testing may be required to qualify for courses with prerequisites.

Application Process

    1. Student must complete and mail, fax or email in the one-page GCC Promise Plus Scholarship Application.
    2. Upon receipt of the Genesee Promise Plus acceptance letter, the student will:
    3. It is highly recommended that the student submit a high school transcript.
        • Transcripts can be emailed to admissions@genesee.edu and must come from the student’s high school
        • Transcripts may be used in place of the Accuplacer placement test to meet prerequisites
    4. Student must complete the Residency Form.
    5. Parental approval/signature is required if under 18 years of age.

 

Advisement Process

It is recommended that all GPP Juniors (“rising seniors”) should meet, virtually or in-person, with a GCC advisor or a Campus Center associate on an individual basis to ensure eligibility. It should be noted that all GPP juniors are non-matriculated students for summer.

Seniors Graduating High School

Who is Eligible?

Every Genesee, Livingston, Orleans or Wyoming County June 2024 or January 2024 graduating high school senior is eligible to receive a scholarship covering the cost of tuition for one or two summer 2024 courses at GCC.

This also includes students in Chesterton Academy of Buffalo, Young Women’s College Prep, Royalton Hartland, Pioneer, Springville, Holland, Wayland-Cohocton, Honeoye Falls-Lima, Lima Christian, Akron, West Valley, Fillmore, Rush-Henrietta, Wheatland Chili, Churchville Chili, Bloomfield, Brockport, Ellicottville, Franklinville and Barker Schools.

  • GLOW area homeschool students who have graduated between January 1 – June 30, 2024 are eligible for a GPP scholarship.
  • ACE students outside the GLOW area who are graduating in January 2024 or June 2024 are eligible for a GPP scholarship.
  • Students who live in the four-county GLOW service area who earned a GED in 2024 are eligible for a GPP scholarship.
  • GPP Scholarship funding is available for either Summer Session. Placement testing may be required to qualify for courses with prerequisites.

  • GPP Senior/Graduate can select up to two courses (either 3 or 4 credit hours) for a total of 8 credit hours.

New Adult College Students

GPP Scholarship funding is available for either Summer Session. Placement testing may be required to qualify for courses with prerequisites.

Who is Eligible?

Any adult student who received a GED prior to May 1, 2024 or graduated high school in December 2023 or earlier from any Genesee, Livingston, Orleans or Wyoming County school or from Chesterton Academy of Buffalo, Young Women’s College Prep, Royalton Hartland, Pioneer, Springville, Holland, Wayland-Cohocton, Honeoye Falls-Lima, Lima Christian, Akron, West Valley, Fillmore, Rush-Henrietta, Wheatland Chili, Churchville Chili, Bloomfield, Brockport, Ellicottville, Franklinville and Barker Schools is eligible to receive a scholarship covering the cost of tuition for one summer 2024 course at GCC.

  • GPP Adult Students must be a new college student. Adult Promise Plus students cannot have transferred from any other college or university, readmitted from GCC from prior enrollment, or be a continuing GCC college student.
  • GPP Scholarship funding is available for any on campus Summer Session course.
  • Students who live in the four-county GLOW service area who earned a GED Diploma and never attended college before are eligible for one free summer course, regardless of age.
  • GPP recipients are also eligible to enroll in GCC’s Online courses.
  • Placement testing may be required to qualify for courses with prerequisites.
  • GPP Adults students must register for Summer and Fall admission. (GCC Admission application is FREE.)
