College Village offers comfortable and clean apartments with shared kitchen, dining, and living room areas, and single or double bedroom suites. Each residence comes fully furnished with a stove and refrigerator, as well as a bed, dresser, and desk in the bedrooms. Living room and dining room furniture are also provided in the shared common areas. Wireless Internet access, cable TV, private mailboxes, laundry facilities, and ample parking areas are all included in the College Village fee.
College Village provides four living-learning community style options such as: 24-hour quiet buildings, Academic and Global Living Opportunities, Wellness, and Community Service. College Village residents also enjoy the many different events happening at GCC - just a short stroll to campus. College Village is a three-minute walk to campus overlooking the scenic Genesee Valley. Despite the rolling hills and pastoral landscape, dozens of restaurants, shops, and recreational offerings are just a mile away in Batavia. In addition, urban opportunities abound in the nearby cities of Buffalo and Rochester, which is just a 40-minute drive, while Canada’s cultural crossroad of Toronto is less than two hours away.
The College Village fee is structured to provide an affordable residence life experience while limiting extra expenses. Heat and electric service is covered by a predetermined limit. Several payment options are available.
Safety personnel are on duty 24 hours a day. Members of the College Village management staff also provide assistance on a wide range of topics, from simple questions about local shopping or recreational opportunities to more serious matters that may require referrals to a professional counselor or medical doctor. The College Village staff understands that you may be living away from home for the first time and will help you enjoy your new living arrangement.
A regular calendar of recreational events is organized each semester for College Village residents, and all interested residents are encouraged to help plan or initiate different activities. Special student events including regular pizza parties, seasonal celebrations, shopping, cultural or professional sporting excursions, study groups and educational programs, volleyball or basketball tournaments, and formal dances are all part of the College Village experience. A yearly outing to a Buffalo Bills football game and a Rochester Red Wings baseball game are among the residents’ favorites. Niagara Falls, haunted hayrides, and an annual Thanksgiving dinner prepared by College Village staff are highly attended seasonal events!
The centrally located Village Hall offers residents a lounge with a mini computer area, kitchenette for special cooking classes, vending machines, television, and a student club meeting space for academic or recreational groups.
