Abraham Lincoln National Exhibit Coming to Library in October
Abraham Lincoln: A Man of His Time, a Man for All Times explores Lincoln’s influence through an oversized panel display created by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History and funded by a major grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. The free exhibit will be open for public viewing in the Alfred O’Connell Library on the GCC Batavia campus from October 1-28, 2012.
The exhibit is part of an on-going series of lectures and events sponsored by GCC to explore the Civil War and its enduring ramifications 150 years after the battles officially ended. Other events have included a lecture series, a weekend-long encampment, and a Victorian Yule Celebration. Other events are also planned throughout the 2012-2013 academic year.
The National Lincoln Exhibit has been traveling to select libraries and educational sites across the United States since 2009, and when it comes to GCC/Batavia, it will be the first showing at a community college in New York State.
