Artist Statement: "The photograph is of my grandfather as we went out to breakfast this past fall, a tradition we started because my brothers and sisters have all moved away and I just wanted to let my grandfather know I still care about him. I remember looking up and seeing him sitting like the way he is in the photo, and decided it was a great pose and something I wanted to remember."
Best Library Photo: Alexis Land and Rhonda Parker
Alexis Land
Artist Statement: "For my photo I chose to do a piece of a student in the library because it relays to what happens in college for many students. As a student myself I have been in the same shoes as the girl in my photo several times, being in the library for numerous hours trying to get papers and assignments done, while eating snacks to keep me awake and focused. I felt that the photo would be a strong piece because in black and white because I wanted to focus in on how the student is so focused and staring at the computer screen as if she is really trying decode and understand what is in front of her."
