College isn't just about classrooms and books and libraries. It's also about making new friends, joining clubs and engaging in student activities, taking chances on new experiences, and having fun. At GCC, thousands of students every year participate in activities sponsored by student clubs, intercollegiate athletic teams and our Campus Activities Board.
There are plenty of opportunities to get involved in campus life; like participating in performing arts, local excursions, and leadership training programs. Throughout the year, our Student Activities Office hosts a wide variety of events like:
- WOW (Weeks of Welcome) - Each semester during the first week of classes at the Batavia campus and the second week at Campus Centers there are fun activities and opportunities to meet other students, faculty, and staff.
- Lunchtime Live - GCC hosts novelty programs where students can make something and take it home with them!
3rd Thursday Series – on the 3rd Thursday of every month, CAB hosts a magician, comedian, band, singer/performer, or spoken word poet to perform in the Student Union.
- Dinner and a Movie - Second Wednesday of every month newly released movies are shown on campus along with a free dinner!
- Celebration of Excellence - An event to celebrate student achievement and success in Student Government and Student Activities.
Service for a Slice - Once per month, this program is offered to help the local community with a service project. Students help with the project and earn their slice of pizza!
Every student at GCC is encouraged to actively participate in some of the 50+ Student Groups. Our clubs and organizations put on hundreds of great events, workshops, and programs each year.
Some clubs are related to particular academic areas such as Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization, Criminal Justice, Education and Nursing. Other clubs represent our diverse populations, hobbies, and special interests. All student groups are open to registered GCC students.
