Residence Life FAQ
College Village offers apartment style living with the option of either a shared or private bedroom. Each apartment is fully furnished with a kitchen, bathroom, and living room. The kitchen comes with a full stove, full refrigerator, and ample counter space. The bathroom comes complete with a shower, toilet, and sink. Local telephone, cable, and wireless internet service are included in the cost of housing.
Residents are able to invite visitors & guests to their apartment by following the policies for Day Visitors and Overnight Guests. All non-residents are required to stop at the safety office and register with a Safety Officer prior to entering any College Village building. Residents are responsible for staying with their guests/visitors at all times, the actions of their guests/visitors, and informing them of campus policies. All guests must have valid photo ID to sign-in and provide to staff when asked.
- Sign-in at the Safety Office FIRST upon arrival and again before leaving the property.
- Get a visitor parking pass if needed.
- Provide valid photo ID at sign-in and anytime asked by CV staff.
- Failure to comply with any CV or GCC policies will result in being banned from CV property.
Each College Village apartment has a full kitchen for students to cook, entertain, and share meals which suit their own dietary needs and tastes. On campus the College has food plan options for students and staff. Students may choose to purchase from a variety of meal plans and declining balance options. You won't have to trek to a Laundromat in town or take clothes home to wash them. You'll find FREE laundry machines right here on campus! All you need to do is provide your own laundry detergent, dryer sheets, and a clothesbasket.

When you move into College Village, you will be assigned a free mailbox. Mailboxes are located in the Root, our student study and lounge space in the basement of Hemlock Hall (K building). Check your mailbox regularly for mail, flyers, important notices, and package slips which you can bring to the RA office to retrieve any large deliveries with your photo ID. If you forget your mailbox number, visit the office for assistance.

Residents are expected to observe Quiet Hours in order to establish a respect among residents for the studying and sleeping habits of others within an academic residential environment. They take place at the following times:
- Weekdays: Sunday - Thursday 10:00 PM - 9:00 AM
- Weekends: Friday - Saturday 11:59 PM - 9:00 AM
- Final Exam Period: 24 Hour Quiet Hours during final exam periods
- 24 Hour Courtesy Hours
- Outside of quiet hours residents are expected to be respectful to the needs of others. If another resident approaches you and requests that you quiet down, please agree or move your activity to another location regardless of the time.
Resident Assistants (RAs) are student leaders on campus who are knowledgeable of campus resources. They develop community through programming, mediating roommate conflicts, and regularly communicating with residents about campus engagement opportunities and academic success at GCC. If you are having issues with roommates, classes, finding resources, or getting involved on campus, talk to your RA for assistance.
If you are interested in joining the Residence Life team, talk with your RA to find out more about their responsibilities. Then Login to Purple Briefcase and search posted jobs for the Resident Assistant position to find the online application. Visit the Career Services Office for assistance creating an account and/or navigating Purple Briefcase.

College Village aims to support students as they learn to share space peacefully with their roommates, suitemates, and neighbors. If you or someone you know is dealing with a roommate issue and would like help, talk to your RA or come to the Village Hall to speak with someone.
