Diesel Technician Training Program

Diesel technicians are in high demand! GCC and Pro-MECH Learning Systems have partnered to offer the Tech-Spedite Entry-Level Diesel Technician Training Program providing focused, relevant training necessary to get jobs in the field of heavy-duty equipment maintenance. This 4-week training program teaches students with very limited skills or brand-new entrants into the heavy-duty maintenance field, the core skills they need to contribute to maintenance operations on the first day of their employment. This program offers hands-on instruction on equipment in a shop setting with live equipment that mirrors the work environment of diesel-equipment technicians. Students are trained in techniques and procedures based on industry standards from the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and the American Trucking Association’s Technology Maintenance Council (TMC). Pro-MECH will provide support for career placement in the United States.

PROGRAM:

The program consists of 160 hours of classroom and hands-on training over 4 weeks for 40 hours per week. Class days are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. To successfully complete the program, you must:

• Have 90% Attendance
• Complete Theory and Subject Area Examinations
• Demonstrate Competency in PMI Process
• Demonstrate Competency in Practical Skills Components
• Pass Drug Test (Pro-MECH or employer)

HOW YOU WILL BENEFIT:

• You will be able to execute the basic tasks employers need from their entry-level technicians.
• You will be able to utilize Pro-MECH relationships across the US, including job opportunities.

1) Attend an Information session: Sessions are held monthly in Avon and last 90 minutes. They provide an overview of the course, tour of the facility and opportunity to ask the faculty questions. 2) Attend Final Interview: Final Interviews last approximately 1 hour and are held 1-4 weeks after you have attended an information session.

3) Complete a written/reading and mathematical assessment with a Pro-MECH admissions team member.

• High-School Diploma/GED

PROGRAM FOCUS

SHOP SAFETY: Essential to any career is learning how to perform work safely. Understanding proper safety equipment and application is a key component of the program.

PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE: Preventive maintenance (PM) is the key to any successful maintenance program for commercial motor vehicles. Through preventative maintenance, vehicles are inspected, repaired and maintained in such a way that defects are prevented from surfacing in the first place, before a violation or accident may occur.

FUNDAMENTAL ELECTRICAL SKILLS: Teaching essential electrical fundamental concepts: volts, ohms and amps. Applying diagnostic skills every technician should have to be an effective contributor to a maintenance or repair operation as well as digital multi-meter utilization. BRAKE SERVICE: Introduction to brake components for drum and disc systems. Fundamental maintenance and service skills necessary to comply with FMCSA requirements.

TIRES, WHEELS AND WHEEL-ENDS: Introduction to wheel-end diagnostics, tear-down and inspection. Wheel and tire diagnostics and alignment checks for tire wear and longevity.

TRAILER PANEL AND FLOOR REPAIR: Body-panel patching in both adhesive bonding and solid rivet application. Sectioning and proper installation of new trailer flooring. This component also includes proper application and use of torching.
