Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training program is one of the fastest growing healthcare occupations in New York State. This 132-hour New York State of Education Certification program includes classroom and lab components at Genesee Community College, including clinical in-patient rotations at LeRoy and Medina Nursing Home locations. CNA training includes the following instructional units:

  • Introductory Curriculum
  • Basic Nursing Skills
  • Personal Care Skills
  • Mental Health and Social Service Needs
  • Care of Cognitively Impaired Residents
  • Basic Restorative Services and Residence Rights Eligibility Requirements:
  • At least 17 Years of Age
  • A High School Graduate or completion of GED
  • Immunizations records up to date
  • Physical ability to lift at least 40lbs unassisted

Course Information:

Fee: $1,799 (online resources including exam prep, textbook, uniform and certification fees)
July 6-August 13, 2021 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

  • Week 1 Class Dates: Tues., July 6, Wed., July 7 and Fri., July 9.
  • Weeks 2-5 Class Dates: Mon., Wed., and Fri., July 12-August 13.
  • Last week of class will involve clinical sites in either LeRoy or Medina and scheduled Monday - Friday.
  • The NYS DOH Exam will be administered within 10 days of conclusion of clinical training.
