Time Management - How to Delegate Successfully

Do you find yourself at the end of the day, buried under unfinished work? Do you feel you don't have enough time to complete all of your tasks? Do you feel stressed and overloaded? If so, then it may be time to take control of your day and use one of the most talked about time management tools – delegation! Many people don’t delegate because it takes up-front effort or they fear losing control of the task. It feels easier to just do it yourself, but is it good use of your time? By delegating effectively, the piles in your inbox will get smaller, the capabilities and motivation of your team members will increase, and the time you have to think about big picture issues, to plan, and to develop the capacity of your team will expand.

This workshop explores how to improve time-management skills through the application of successful delegation to others. Participants will identify common obstacles to successful delegation, learn practical tools and techniques for delegation, and practice conducting coaching conversations to delegate for higher performance.

Upon completion of this course, students will:
1.) Describe the difference between delegation vs. empowerment.
2.) Identify obstacles to successful delegation.
3.) Recognize the five steps of delegation.
4.) How to delegate using the BALM principle.
5.) Apply coaching techniques to delegate for higher performance.
