Making Movies with Your Camera

Want to learn video making skills or begin a course of study in filmmaking/film theory? Making movies with your camera is a must. This course involves a careful study of the tools, craft, and art of cinematography/videography. Students will learn the anatomy of a camera, the fundamentals of proper exposure and how to compose professional looking shots. The fundamentals of sound, color, and of course picture editing will be covered. This is a lecture-lab course in which topics are presented by the instructor, as demonstrated with examples and a camera. Students are required to follow along with their own cameras. A DSLR or mirrorless camera is recommended to get the most out of the course. No previous photography/cinematography experience is required.

The instructor, Michael Ilasi, holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Cinema & Photography. He is the owner of Cosmic Videos and has experience working with Miramax Films, DreamWorks SKG and Sony Pictures Entertainment. He has worked on dozens of major motion pictures including: The Lord of the Rings, Gangs of New York, Chicago and Hollywood Ending.
