Solar Codes and Standards
Solar Codes & Standards provides a thorough study of the National Electric Codes (NEC) as applied to the installation and maintenance of solar electric grid-tied and stand-alone systems and advanced troubleshooting techniques. Topics will include: wire coding, types, gauge, sizing, ampacity and voltage limitations, conduit, weatherproofing, grounding, high voltage and low voltage rapid shut-downs. Electrical safety is reinforced and emphasized. Students will be familiarized with the national solar organizations and standard setting agencies including National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). Pre-requisite: PVO 101.

4. Analyze catastrophic failures of solar systems and their causes.
