Social Psychology

Examines individual behavior in social settings. Discusses research methodology, social cognition, attitudes, group behavior, social influence, prejudice, aggression, altruism, and interpersonal attraction. Prerequisite: PSY104 or SOC101.

Course Learning Outcomes:

1. Critique a current empirical research study in social psychology for methodological soundness.
2. Review and accurately report findings from a given research study in social psychology.
3. Discuss various concepts researched in the area of social influence (obedience, conformity, groupthink, social loafing, etc.).
4. Discuss various concepts researched in the area of social relations (aggression, attraction, prejudice, discrimination, etc.).
5. Discuss various concepts researched in the area of social cognition (attitudes, attributions, cognitive biases, etc.).
6. Apply American Psychological Association (APA) style to the writing of research papers.
7. Utilize discipline-specific library resources.
