Sport Management Internship

Allows students to practice sport management theory in a practical setting oriented toward professional development, leadership, and management. Provides sport management and administrative work experience (promotions, planning, organization, media support, etc.) in the community. Studies professional character development, communication skills, ethics, and etiquette. Promotes career preparation and provides opportunities for learners to develop skills necessary to become leaders in the athletic profession. Prerequisites: PED 251 & PED 258

Course Learning Outcomes:

1. Develop performance standards to achieve in an athletic administrative setting.
2. Describe the responsibilities in at least 3 of the following areas of sports administration: events management, sports information, intramurals management, facilities administration, media relations, promotions or fundraising.
3. Describe the application of the basic business concepts of Strategic Management.
4. Create a working contract.
5. Identify the day-to-day duties of a sport management administration position.
6. Analyze their philosophy toward the Sport Management profession.
