Sport Management Internship

Allows students to practice sport management theory in a practical setting oriented toward professional development, leadership, and management. Provides sport management and administrative work experience (promotions, planning, organization, media support, etc.) in the community. Studies professional character development, communication skills, ethics, and etiquette. Promotes career preparation and provides opportunities for learners to develop skills necessary to become leaders in the athletic profession. Prerequisites: PED 251 & PED 258

Course Learning Outcomes:

1. Develop performance standards to achieve in an administration/management setting.
2. Describe the professional responsibilities in areas of administration/management such as: leadership, operations, communication, event/venue management, governance, and technology.
3. Demonstrate professional competency in administration/management areas such as: time management, initiative, communication, professional attire, and collaboration.
4. Identify the day-to-day duties of an administration/management position.
5. Analyze their philosophy toward the Sport Management profession.
