Introduces the student to concepts related to the nursing care of diverse individuals with complex health care needs. Emphasis is placed upon integration of the competencies of patient centered care, safe practice environment, collaboration, healthcare informatics and management of care in clinical practice. This course provides classroom and online content. Prerequisites: BIO 201, NUR 211, and NUR 209 with a grade of “C” or higher and NUR LC3 with a grade of “CP”. Co-requisites: NUR 212, NUR LC4, and NUR LC5.

Course Learning Outcomes:
1. Provide compassionate, coordinated, comprehensive care by partnering with the patient/family/community to meet individualized health care needs and identified outcomes.
2. Adhere to legal, ethical and regulatory standards in conjunction with current nursing research and risk management strategies to provide and maintain an environment of safety and continuous quality improvement.
3. Collaborate with the patient/family/community and other members of the healthcare team in planning, decision making and problem solving in order to promote optimal health and move toward the achievement of mutually agreed upon outcomes.
