Introduces the student to concepts related to the nursing care of diverse individuals experiencing prolonged changes in health status. Emphasis is placed on managing and optimizing health. The competencies of patient centered care, safe practice environment, collaboration, healthcare informatics and management of care are applied to clinical practice. This course provides classroom and online content. Prerequisites: BIO 201, NUR 211, and NUR 209 with a grade of ‘C’ or higher and NUR LC3 with a grade of “CP”. Corequisite: NUR LC4, NUR 222, and NUR LC5.

Course Learning Outcomes:
1. Provide compassionate, coordinated, comprehensive care by partnering with the patient/family/community to promote individualized health care needs and identified outcomes
2. Adhere to legal, ethical and regulatory standards in conjunction with current nursing research to promote an environment of safety and continuous quality improvement.
