1. Differentiate among different styles of hip hop.
2. Discuss hip hop culture and the trajectory of the movement.
3. Analyze musical influences in examples throughout hip hop history from audio samples.
4. Explain the influence of hip hop on American culture in various time periods.
5. Explain the global impact that hip hop has played in society.
6. Discuss the importance of hip hop music as a communicator of African American culture.
7. Describe the interconnectedness of hip hop music with American and global experiences (historical, social, political).
