Group Facilitation

Examines group behavior and techniques to influence group processes. Studies principles affecting group behavior, effective meeting strategies, conflict resolution principles, and leadership skills. Utilizes small groups in class to apply course material.

1. Identify a variety of concepts and theories that make an effective group.
2. Apply key skills required for effective group leadership.
3. Identify and discuss learning styles and teaching methods.
4. Explain the process of effective termination of the group process.
5. Discuss how to maintain respect and inclusion of personal differences and needs among group members.
6. Identify effectives methods of orienting new clients and managing group membership.
7. Discuss establishing an environment of trust, support, and cohesiveness among group members.
8. Explain how to use group dynamics for individual and group growth.
9. Discuss how to address medication assisted treatment in a group setting.
