Responding to Emergencies
Presents emergency techniques used to maintain health, alleviate suffering and sustain human life under conditions during which professional care and/or normal health services are unavailable. Studies safety and prevention as they relate to home, school, industry, and the highway. Provides Red Cross certification in Responding to Emergencies and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer upon successful completion of requirements and payment of Red Cross fees.

Course Learning Outcomes:
1. Demonstrate the essential life-saving skills of CPR, rescue breathing or clearing an obstructed airway, on adults, children or infants.
2. Identify the general signals of an emergency such as: life-threatening bleeding, various soft tissue injuries, musculoskeletal injuries, head and spine injuries or sudden illness.
3. Demonstrate proper care of a victim in an emergency situation.
4. Demonstrate how to splint an extremity.
