Human Geography
Introduces the physical and human geography of the world. Examines the major physical/environmental, cultural, political and economic characteristics of each world region. Particular attention is paid to social structures and linguistic discourses in the analysis of a range of social justice issues.

Course Learning Outcomes:
1. Discuss the ways in which maps, date, terms or narratives encountered in the study of geography contain biases.
2. Describe spatial relationships using geographic concepts (location, scale, density, pattern, etc.).
3. Differentiate the regional and topical approaches within the study of geography.
4. Summarize the insights associated with key models in geography.
5. Explain how physical, organic and cultural domains combine to form distinctive global neighborhoods (realms).
6. Outline major global trends pertaining to environmental challenges, globalization, economic transformations or demographic shifts.
7. Discuss the factors that contribute to the complexity of personal and social identities involving race, class or gender.
8. Analyze the role that social structures and systems play in the creation and perpetuation of power, privilege, oppression and opportunity.
9. Explore a topic of interest drawing on a social justice framework.
