Advanced Apparel Construction
Explores appropriate apparel construction techniques using a variety of knits, silky, directional, lace, napped, and specialty fabrics. Complex applications, contrasting fabric inserts, matching directional fabrics, and hand stitching applications are covered which build on skills learned in apparel Construction Fundamentals. Pre-requisites: FBM120 or instructor approval following a portfolio review.

1. Demonstrate construction techniques, with appropriate fabric selection, suitable for the style of garment to be produced.
2. Apply industrial mass manufacturing methods.
3. Apply construction techniques to develop the most efficient use of resources.
4. Apply proper fitting techniques.
5. Select materials to convey a fashion design idea with confidence.
6. Construct at least 4 garments/accessories using a variety of specialized fabrics.
