Engineering Mechanics 2: Dynamics
Continues the study of mechanisms as applied to moving bodies. Examines position, displacement and velocity in both rectangular and polar coordinators, and Newton’s laws of motion, moments and products of inertia, plane rigid body motion along with linear and angular impulse and momentum. Includes both free and forced vibration, rotating axes and coriolis acceleration, and application of D’Alembert’s principles. Spring only. Prerequisite: EGR235.

1. Use vectors to solve problems.
2. Solve kinematic problems involving translational or rotational rigid body motion using appropriate coordinate systems.
3. Solve problems involving forces or moments with multiple rigid bodies.
4. Solve problems using energy methods for rigid bodies.
5. Solve problems involving impulse- momentum or angular impulse- momentum equations as needed.
6. Solve problems involving vibrations in rigid bodies.
7. Solve problems that involve multiple steps in which several engineering concepts are interconnected.
