3-D Solids and Modeling
Introduces 3-D software to produce 3-D solids and render them as models. Performs operations for creating 3-D objects including extruding, combining, solidifying, wireframes, meshing, and determining mass properties of engineering drawings. Requires realistic rendering of objects in solid forms. Two class hours, two lab hours. Fall only. Prerequisite: EGR119.

Course Learning Outcomes:
1. Differentiate styles of 3D drawing (wire frame, surface and solid)
2. Apply rendering techniques in engineering drawings for mechanical parts production
3. Demonstrate the setup of multiple view ports using CAD software
4. Develop CAD techniques to build complex solid models
5. Create 3D solids views of mechanical object using various methods (extrusion, revolutions)
6. Document 3D models with 2D techniques of coordinate geometry
7. Incorporate Boolean operations to combine basic 3D forms
8. Complete rendering of objects efficiently with control
9. Execute 3D models derived from 3D mechanical drawings
