Cybersecurity Analyst

Prepares students with skills to safeguard business infrastructures against potential threats. Understanding industry-standard best practices and honing incident response and forensics skills through exploring real-world cybersecurity case studies. Students gain a comprehensive understanding of key cybersecurity analyst tools, including data protection, endpoint protection, Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), as well as essential system and network fundamentals. Prerequisite: CYB 200 or permission of instructor.

Course Learning Outcomes:

1. Monitor and analyze system logs for signs of security threats.
2. Identify and respond to common security threats, such as malware, phishing attacks, and denial-of-service attacks.
3. Assess the risk of a security breach and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
4. Respond to a security incident by containing the incident, restoring systems, and investigating the cause of the incident.
5. Ensure that an organization’s security practices are in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
