Studies the law of personal property and bailments; real property; landlord and tenants; wills, trusts and estates; negotiable instruments; insurance; secured transactions; bankruptcy; principal and agency; employment; sole proprietorships, partnerships and corporations; and professional liability. Prerequisite: BUS 205.

Course Learning Outcomes:
1. Identify and describe the law of personal property as it relates to title ownership, abandoned property, stolen property and gifted property.
2. Identify the three (3) essential aspects of intellectual property.
3. Identify major aspects of real property law, including types of ownership, methods of conveyance and landlord/tenant rights and duties.
4. Identify and describe the essential elements and terminology of the law of wills, estates and trusts.
5. Name and describe the basic elements of Chapter 7, 11, 12 and 13 of the Bankruptcy Code.
6. Distinguish between mortgages, secured transactions and unsecured debt instruments.
7. Name and describe the key feature of principal/agency law.
8. Identify and describe five (5) types of business organizations, including sole proprietorships, general partnerships, limited partnerships, corporations and limited liability companies.
9. Identify the elements of professional liability for at least three (3) different professions.
