Animal Anatomy & Physiology 2
Continue the study of anatomy and physiology of domestic animals with investigation of the cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, lymphatic and immune, urinary, and reproductive systems. Includes an overview of avian, reptilian and amphibian anatomy. Emphasis will be placed on the structure and function of the tissues of each system along with the differences in the system between the species examined. Prerequisites: VET 102, VET 114, BIO 123, and BIO LB3 each with a grade of ‘C’ or higher. Corequisites: BIO LB4, VET 124, VET 209, VET LB9, VET 223 and VET LB3.

1. Identify all organs in each system on models, diagrams or tissue samples.
2. Describe the functions of individual organs in each system.
3. Describe the function of each body system related to feedback or other mechanisms to maintain organism homeostasis.
4. Explain how each system interacts with the other body systems.
5. Explain differences in the digestive system between species.
6. Explain differences in the reproductive system between species.
7. Describe selected pathologies for each body system.
8. Identify the histology of tissues and organs within each system.
9. Describe the correlation of organ tissue and histology to system function.
10. Perform prosection of non-preserved animals or organs.
