Career Educational Planning Courses:
CEP101 - Career and Educational Planning
Catalog Description: Prepares students to develop a greater understanding of career and educational opportunities. Includes self-assessment, goal-setting, and decision-making skills as related to the career development process. Successful completion of the course enables students enrolled in the Individualized Studies degree program to complete their mandatory educational plan. Recommended for student desiring guidance to develop a customized career and educational plan. Not open to students who have successfully completed CEP102.
Lecture: 3 hrs.
Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs):
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1.Demonstrate advanced awareness of self in connection with career and educational goals by preparing a personal career and educational plan.
2.Demonstrate preparation for transfer to a baccalaureate institution and/or for career development by developing a personal statement, resume, and cover letter.*
3.Apply advanced technological and information management skills for career and educational development.
4.Apply the use of the Secretary's Commission on Achieving Necessary Skills (SCANS) by demonstrating why workplace competencies and foundational skills and qualities are relative to their career choice(s).
* This course objective has been identified as a student learning outcome that must be formally assessed as part of the Comprehensive Assessment Plan of the college. All faculty teaching this course must collect the required data and submit the required analysis and documentation at the conclusion of the semester to the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment.
