THE206 - Advanced Projects in Theatre
Catalog Description: Offers advanced opportunities to showcase talents and gain additional expertise in an aspect of theatre-playwriting, directing, acting, scene design, costume and makeup design, lighting design, sound design, properties design, stage management, or dramaturgy. Completed projects may be submitted to the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Region II Festival. Prerequisite: THE101 or THE105, and THE103 and THE106, or permission of instructor.
Lecture: 1 hrs.
Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs):
At the successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
1.Participate in project planning using pre-established criteria in professional conduct.
2.Demonstrate an understanding of performance and/or production skills taught in THE 101 or THE 105, THE 106, and/or THE 103 by performing or presenting an original, completed project that illustrates the dynamics of theatre performance and/or production.
3.*Complete an analysis of the production and/or presentation that identifies at least five key characteristics of the particular aspect of theatre chosen by the students.
4.Participate in the post-production and/or post-presentation process (including strikes and/or post-mortems) and analyze the success of the project in a two page written paper.
*This course objective has been identified as student learning outcome that must be formally assessed as part of the College's Comprehensive assessment plan. All faculty teaching this course must collect: required data (see Assessing Student Learning Outcomes form) and submit the required analysis and documentation at the conclusion of the semester to the Office of Assessment and Special Project.
1. Introduction to the course and signed contract

3. Individual conferences on project
4. Development of project using available resources
5. Presentation of project either in display or performance mode
6. Participation in post-project activities
7. Submission of final analysis paper
