|THE108 - Festival Theatre|
Catalog Description: Students attend, record, and evaluate workshops and theatrical productions at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival for Region II. Students must provide funds for Festival attendance, transportation, lodging and personal expenses.
Lecture: 1 hrs.
Course Student Learning Outcomes (CSLOs):
At the successful completion of the course, as documented by journal entries, papers, and class discussion students will have:
1.* Attended four theatrical performances and written a 1-2 page critical essay on each.
2.Attended four workshops and written a one page paper on each workshop summarizing the material presented.
3.Kept a daily journal documenting at least five personal experiences that enhanced the student's knowledge and skill about theatrical productions.
4.Attended at least two rounds of the Irene Ryan Competition, one of which will be a final round and written a brief paragraph critiquing each performers work.
*This course objective has been identified as student learning outcome that must be formally assessed as part of the College's Comprehensive assessment plan. All faculty teaching this course must collect: required data (see Assessing Student Learning Outcomes form) and submit the required analysis and documentation at the conclusion of the semester to the Office of Assessment and Special Project.
1.Attendance and participation in at least three workshops offered during the Festival
2.Workshops attended should be in at least two of the following areas of theatre tech/design, acting, dramaturgy, history, directing, and stage management
3.Attendance at all Festival productions
4.Attendance and participation in informal Festival meetings
5.Submission of Festival journal and final reaction paper
