OFT251 - Processing Legal Documents
Catalog Description: Introduces legal terminology, procedures, and documents. Develops legal vocabulary, ability to perform legal office procedures, and ability to prepare various legal documents and instruments. Prerequisite: OFT101 or PLG214.
Lecture: 3 hrs.
Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs):
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to demonstrate the following knowledge and skills:
1.Identify legal vocabulary/terminology according to the context of the legal document with 96% accuracy as documented on semester exercises.
2.Format legal documents and litigation documents using word processing software by scoring a minimum of 70% on unit tests.*
3.Demonstrate knowledge of legal office procedures and legal documents with 96% accuracy on semester activities.
4.Apply definitions of legal terminology to semester activities and tests with 96% accuracy.
5.Apply correct spelling of legal terminology to semester activities and tests with 96% accuracy.
* This course objective has been identified as a student learning outcome that must be formally assessed as part of the Comprehensive Assessment Plan of the college. All faculty teaching this course must collect the required data and submit the required analysis and documentation at the conclusion of the semester to the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment.
