OFT103 - Keyboarding For Computer Users

Catalog Description: Develops touch computer keyboard skills to input alphabetic, numeric, and symbol information. Explore microcomputers and disk software. Requires minimum level of proficiency of 20 words per minute (wpm).

Lecture: 2 hrs.

Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs):
Students will be able to achieve mastery of the computer keyboard and an understanding of the operation of a personal computer. They will be able to input a minimum of 20 words per minute for 3 minutes within 5 errors.

II. Completion of Disks 1, 2, 3, 4: Microcomputer Keyboarding Software

A. Introduction to Alphabetic Keyboard
B. Introduction to Numeric and Symbol Keyboard
C. Development of Alpha-Numeric Keyboarding Skills

III. Introduction to Word Perfect Word Processing Software

IV. Timed Writing Drills to Improve and Measure Speed and Accuracy
