Clinical Practice 3
Provides respiratory care clinical experiences in home care, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, neonatal/pediatric intensive care, pulmonary rehabilitation, long-term care and adult critical care sites. Fine-tunes cardiopulmonary assessment skills by applying four academic terms of respiratory care knowledge to patient care. Specialized supervised respiratory care rotations (384 hours required). Prerequisite: RCP210 with a grade of ‘C’ or higher.

Course Learning Outcomes:
1. Assist in patient code scenarios
2. Utilize mechanical ventilators for a broad range of patients experiencing respiratory failure
3. Practice airway management for the intubated patient
4. Perform various out-patient testing related to the respiratory patient (PFTs, Walk tests, bed side spirometry)
5. Collect arterial blood gases
6. Analyze arterial blood gases and suggest ventilator changes
7. Utilize skills in a variety of intensive care settings (NICU, PICU, CTICU)
