Cardiopulmonary Diagnostics
Introduces equipment used to monitor patients and diagnose cardiopulmonary diseases. Interprets clinical information obtained from pulmonary function testing, electrocardiography, and hemodynamics. Prerequisite: RCP114 and RCP 116 each with a grade of ‘C’ or higher.

Course Learning Outcomes:
1. Describe various components of the pulmonary functions test with application to various disease states.
2. Compare and contrast restrictive lung disease versus obstructive lung disease
3. Discuss fiber optic bronchoscopy procedures with its indications.
4. Analyze electrocardiogram tracings to differentiate normal heart rhythms from atypical heart rhythms.
5. Interpret chest x-rays and distinguish between healthy and diseased lungs.
6. Discuss sleep apnea and its relevance to the Respiratory Therapist’s role.
7. Identify formulas for cardiac output and describe their applications.
8. Distinguish between normal and compromised hemodynamics.
9. Discuss the home care environment as it pertains to the respiratory therapist.
