Pharmacology for Nursing
Presents essential concepts of pharmacology. Designed to promote the use of critical thinking in the application of drug therapy. Emphasis is placed on the integration of pharmacologic principles, legal responsibilities of the nurse and the nursing process. Prerequisite: NUR 111, NUR LC1, and BIO 152 with grade of ‘C’ or higher. Prerequisite or corequisite: BIO 153 with a grade of ‘C’ or better. Co-requisites: NUR 112 and NUR LC2.

5. Describe how to assess and evaluate for therapeutic versus non-therapeutic effects of medications, as well as side and adverse effects of medications. (#1 Patient-Centered Care)
6. Discuss the use of electronic resources and how they support medication management. (#4 Healthcare Informatics)
7. Recognize the role of the nurse within an interprofessional team which provides collaborative care and education to support safe medication management. (#3 Collaboration)
