New York State History
Surveys the development of the peoples of New York state from pre-history to the present. Focuses on the contributions diverse groups and individuals have made to political, social, economic and cultural fabric of New York State, and through this to the United States and global community. Introduces techniques of historical research and critical writing about the history of New York State. Prerequisite: HIS 203 or HIS 204 or a grade of 85 or better on the New York State Regents American history and government examination.

5. Analyze the impact of social movements at the local and state level in New York.
6. Analyze how patterns of immigration have influenced the settlement of New York.
7. Interpret periods of New York State history for their political, economic and social impact.

10. Compare and contrast the development of geographic regions of New York state.
