Located on the third floor of the A building is WGCC, the college radio station. An FCC-licensed radio station, WGCC can be heard up to 25 miles from the college on 90.7 FM or worldwide online at wgcc-fm.com. Student and community DJ’s broadcast a wide variety of music including rock, hip-hop, R&B and country. Each November, WGCC produces Rockfest, a regional talent showcase held in the GCC Forum to an audience of 400 to 500.
The production studio uses the latest software for selective editing such as reversing offensive words in a song, and for recording solo artists and trios in the station. Computer technology allows music, public service announcements and promotions to be stored in a digital format.
In addition to the FM station, WGCC has an AM station in a separate studio that is used for training before broadcasting live.
