Parent Orientation

While your student is attending the Student Orientation, a special program for parents and family will also be offered, to help you learn more about GCC's programs, services and academic expectations.  There will be plenty of time for you to ask questions.  After lunch, special breakout sessions for students and their family members will be held.  You can go to the same sessions as your student, or attend different ones.

Parent Orientation

10:00 – 12:00 Theater

Presenters:  

  • Dr. Ginny Taylor, Vice President for Student and Enrollment Services
  • Margaret Heater, Assistant Dean for Student Development
  • Mary Jane Heider, Director of Academic Computing

If your college student comes home using strange terms like "Credit Hours," "Drop/Add," "Restricted Electives," etc., you’ll know what they're talking about.  We'll also review information every parent wants to know – meal plans, local banking, and much more helpful information.

A free picnic lunch will be served at noon.

Attention:  Please register for Parent Orientation by calling (585) 345-6832. Registration is not required, but it is a big help to assure that we have enough food for everyone!
