Student Development Series
Strive for Five!
The Student Development Series is a program that provides co-curricular learning to ensure the success of Genesee Community College students. All students are encouraged to attend the wide variety of workshops and events throughout the semester.
As an added incentive, the Student Development Series will serve as a Certificate Program, by which student participants will receive recognition for their involvement. Students who accumulate 5 “credits” during the year will receive an invitation to the Spring Awards Banquet where they will receive a certificate of completion!
Most workshop sessions last 45 minutes and prove to be interactive and informative. Attendance sheets should be signed during each workshop or activity to receive credit.
Students are highly encouraged to explore the unique possibilities offered and ultimately find success.
Note: Students are asked to please SIGN UP in the Student Activities Office for all workshops they plan on attending.

Advertising effects all of us in one way or another. According to Dr. Peter DeBenedittis, the overwhelming majority of today’s ads are definitely targeted at our younger population. This workshop takes a closer look at some recent commercial ads, to show if this is just theory or undeniable fact.
