Student Aide - Lab Assistant
- Location: Student Resource Center
- Reports to: SRC Coordinator
- Pay Rate: minimum wage
Description of Position
- Lab Assistants are to circulate in the SRC labs and assist students in their use of the hardware, software and audio/visual equipment. In addition, they are responsible for replacing paper and toner in the printers and ensuring that the facilities are kept in good order.
- One Lab Assistant will be stationed at the SRC desk at all times to act as a receptionist. The receptionist serves as the initial point of contact for SRC students. In this role they greet students and answer the SRC phone.
- Two other Lab Assistants will monitor the open lab T207 for hardware and software problems and student questions.
- Hourly logs need to be completed by lab assistants throughout the labs operation.
Essential Responsibilities
- Greet students when entering and exiting the SRC.
- Answer questions regarding the SRC and associated facilities (open hours, hardware, software availability and location, etc.)
- Assist student students in their use of the computer, video and audio equipment in the SRC labs.
- Instruct students in the proper use of computer hardware and software.
- Enforce GCC and SRC rules and policies.
- Maintain the appearance of the SRC and associated facilities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Enjoy working with the public.
- Familiar with Windows operation system.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Applications.
- Eager to expand computer knowledge.
- Available at least 10 hours / week.
- Cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.
