Updates from the GCC Financial Aid Office
2014-2015 FAFSA is now available! File the 2014-2015 FAFSA for the upcoming academic year. The suggested file date of the 2014-2015 FAFSA is April 1, 2015.
The 2013-2014 FAFSA is still available for students that need aid for Spring 2014 and Summer 2014.
IRS Data Retrieval Tool (IRS DRT) now available! If you have already filed your taxes, use the IRS DRT to automatically upload your IRS information to your FAFSA. As of Fall 2012 GCC will no longer be able to accept copies of your tax return for
verification. You will need to submit a Tax Return Transcript. Students will now only be able to receive
Federal Pell for 6 academic years (12 semesters). As of Fall 2012 students receiving a
Subsidized Loan will start accruing interest when dropped below part-time status (i.e. graduate or registered for less than 6 credit hours)
At GCC you'll find a number of opportunities to save or earn money towards college. Last year we helped GCC students obtain more than $26 million in aid for education!
Scholarships - usually based on scholastic merit and don't need to be paid back
Grants - don't need to be paid back
Loans - DO need to be paid back
Work-Study - allow you to earn money while you attend GCC
