Description2014 Summer Seasonal Only Assistant Horticultural Inspector 1 (Newfane & Penfield Locations – Several Positions) Field surveyors work in teams of two, taking leaf samples in commercial orchards. Additional duties include maintenance of daily and weekly records of inspection work, inspection and survey of residential properties, businesses, and densely populated treed areas for the presence of plum pox virus. These duties will require fast walking, bending, squatting, working outdoors in various terrains, inclement weather, and close proximity to poison ivy.
Assistant Horticultural Inspector 1 – Office Staff (Newfane Location ONLY – 1 Position) The duties of office staff personnel require excellent computer skills; Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and database experience is preferred. This position requires strong personal skills and a professional approach toward co-workers and the public. When duties at the office are finished, the office person will also be out in the field as a surveyor.
Assistant Horticultural Inspector 1 – Crew Chief (Penfield location ONLY – 1 Position) A strong attention to detail is necessary as paperwork such as mileage logs, daily sample sheets, lab sheets and expense reports will need to be kept in order. The duties of a crew chief require strong leadership skills as this person will be in charge of a crew of surveyors.
