Batavia, NY - A local café is offering an exciting off-campus opportunity for Genesee Community College fine arts students to display their creative talents for the public to enjoy. Surrealism meets caffeine in “Caffeinated Canvas,” a collaborative art project created by students in the Advanced Painting class at Genesee Community College. Instructor Heather Jones inspired her students to work together on a 5 by 10-foot mural that offers a surreal expression of the coffee house atmosphere. The work will be on display in the Muddy Waters Coffee House at 53 Main Street in Geneseo, NY from May 16-July 9, 2012.

The piece features the teamwork of students Christina Barnes, Holly Hosmer, Keenan Hughes, Kyle Maurer, Dana Torcello, Ashley Wood and Nate Buys. A number of other pieces painted by the students will also be exhibited. “The pieces from these emerging artists highlight a wide display of contemporary expression, material exploration and a diverse grouping of vibrant concepts,” according to Ms. Jones.
