A line drawing of the library floor plan is presented. Areas of interest are highlighted, and upon mouseover text captions explain the resources and services available in that area. Links to pertinent resources are included. In some cases, photographs also appear. Text and links for 21 highlighted areas are listed here: 1. Circulating Books: Circulating books can be checked out. You'll need a GCC Library barcode. Look for books in the online library catalog, and write down the call number. We have more than 75,000 books! 2. Audio Materials: Music cassettes, CDs, record albums, and audio books can be checked out for three weeks. We have a wide variety of music as well as abridged and unabridged audiobooks. Look in the library catalog, or check out our browsing lists. 3. Media Equipment - Microfilm: View videotapes, DVDs, or listen to audio materials in this Media room. Microfilm and printers provide back issues of the library's periodicals, including the New York Times since 1850! Special exhibits are featured in this room. 4. Information Desk: Librarians are here to answer any and all of your research questions. You can also email, chat or telephone us. 5. Circulation Desk: Circulation is the spot to get a GCC Library barcode, check out or return materials, get course-related items that have been placed on Reserve, and current newspapers. 6. Copiers: Photocopiers (10 cents per page), staplers, scissors and other equipment are here. 7. Videos: Videos and DVDs that are used for instruction are stored in this room. Faculty may check these items out, and all others can view them in the Media room next door. Instructional and feature films can be located using the library catalog. 8. Library Classroom: Our classroom is a smart computer lab with 25 workstations. Many Genesee classes come to the library for instruction about research and resources. 9. Archives: The Genesee Community College Archives stores documents relating to the college's history, such as academic proposals, catalogs, news releases and student newspapers. 10. Study Room: Study rooms with computers are available on a first come-first served basis - great for working on a group project! 11. Computer Workstations: These library computers provide access to the internet, the library catalog, and Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) Patrons doing academic research have priority at all library computers. 12. Current Periodicals - Lounge: Current issues of magazines and journals are shelved alphabetically by Title in this comfortable lounge area. 14. Career Collection: The Career Collection contains current information about occupations, employment trends, and job searching. Information about occupations requiring at least an Associate's degree is emphasized. Materials on career decision making, internships, and resumes are also located here. 15. Legal Books: New York State and federal case law and statutes, along with other legal reference materials are located in this area. A computer with WESTLAW and LawDesk access is located here for use by Paralegal Studies students. 16. Seating: You'll find a variety of seating and studying options throughout the library. Carrels, tables, and chairs are located in various locations. 17. Reference Books: Reference resources located here are in-depth and authoritative works on a wide variety of subjects. These books do not circulate, so they are always available for use. 18. New Books: A special selection of our newest books are displayed on this shelf for your browsing pleasure. 19. Atlases & Maps: Large format maps and atlases are beautiful and informative resources. 20.
