The library uses ILLiad, a user-focused Interlibrary Library
Loan system. ILLiad was originally developed by librarians at Virginia
Tech to streamline and improve interlibrary loan services by applying
web-based technologies.
Users of ILLiad at Genesee are able to place and track requests
for materials from other libraries (nationwide), receive article requests
electronically, and receive most requests much faster than with
traditional interlibrary loan systems. Students and staff at
Campus Centers are also able to use this online system to place requests
for Genesee library materials.
With the implementation of ILLiad, the Alfred C. O'Connell
Library has joined the award-winning
IDS Project, a group of New York State libraries dedicated to resource
sharing and increased access to library materials.
