Student Development Series
The Student Development Series is a program that provides co-curricular learning to ensure the success of Genesee Community College students. All students are encouraged to attend the wide variety of workshops and events throughout the semester.
Our Student Development Series is made up of three sub series: the LIFE Series, Business and Commerce Series and Cross Cultural Series. Students may choose to participate in any one of these Series, or all three if desired!
As an added incentive, the Student Development Series will serve as a Certificate Program, by which student participants will receive recognition for their involvement. Students who attend 10 workshops within any one of the Series accumulate 10 “credits” over the course of the year. We recommend that students “Strive for 5” credits each semester. Students who complete their 10 “credits” during the year will receive an invitation to the Spring Awards Banquet where they will receive a certificate of completion! A different certificate is awarded for each of the three sub series.
The Student Activities Office also provides information on how students can include their participation in these activities on a Co-Curricular Resume, an official document of the college that is provided to any student who is interested in obtaining a “competitive edge” to bring to future employers and four-year schools!
Most workshop sessions last one hour and prove to be interactive and informative. Attendance sheets should be signed during each workshop or activity to ensure credit.
Note: Students are asked to please SIGN UP in the Student Activities Office for all workshops they plan on attending. The first opportunity for workshop registration will be at the Opening Reception on Thursday, September 17th during Common Hour! Sign up today to attend!
