Becky Dziekan, MS, ATC Director of Health and Physical Education rldziekan@genesee.edu Becky Dziekan, who has been at Genesee Community College since 1996, is entering a new position as the Director Health and Physical Education. She will continue to teach courses as well as supervise all Health and Physical Education full-time and adjunct faculty, the programs, the courses, and curricula, among many other responsibilities. Prior to this new appointment, Becky was the full-time Head Athletic Trainer here at GCC. While at GCC, Becky has worn several hats. As Associate Professor of Health and Physical Education, she teaches a wide range of courses, serves on several committees, and supervises all American Red Cross courses taught at GCC. During her tenure as Athletic Trainer, Becky supervised student athletic trainers, and provided injury assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation for all of the college’s athletic teams. In her spare time, she enjoys the outdoors, walking, biking, golfing, fishing, watching football, and playing with her two boys, Dylan and Colton. Becky received a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education and Sport at SUNY College at Brockport, and a Master’s Degree in Athletic Training at Indiana State University. Kathleen Gurak Instructor of Physical Education and Health ktgurak@genesee.edu Kathleen Gurak has been a full-time instructor in the Health and Physical Education department since 2007. She comes to us with experience in teaching, coaching, and athletic administration. Kathy is no stranger to Genesee Community College. For several years, she served as an adjunct instructor. Along with being an adjunct at GCC, Gurak has several years of physical education teaching experience at the K-12 level. She has also been a middle and high school assistant principal and athletic director. During her tenure as an athletic director, Gurak received national recognition as a Certified Master Athletic Administrator through the NIAAA-one of only eight AD's in New York to receive this honor. Gurak has served on several athletic committees. She was the female vice president of the Section V athletic council, liaison to several sports, volleyball committee co-chair, and state volleyball tournament chair. Gurak graduated with a degree in physical education from Brockport State, where she also obtained her Master's degree in education and her CAS in educational administration-graduating Summa Cum Laude. She has been awarded a fellowship to the Warner School of Education at the University of Rochester for doctoral study in educational administration. Gurak also maintains professional memberships in NYSAHPERD, AAHPERD, NYSAAA, and NIAAA. She resides in Groveland, New York with her husband, Mark, and daughter, Rozzi. Mike vonSchiller Instructor of Health and Physical Education mhvonschiller@genesee.edu Michael vonSchiller serves as the Head Men's Basketball Coach and full time faculty
in the Health & Physical Education Department at Genesee Community College. Coach vonSchiller has produced 4 Region III “Players of the Year”
and 4 NJCAA All Americans in the last 5 years, and the Cougars have become a
mainstay in the National Rankings. He was recognized as Region III coach of the
