Jim Bucki James M. Bucki, Sr.
Director of Academic Computing Programs

James Bucki has worked at Genesee Community College for over five years and has over 17 years of professional experience in planning, managing, designing and implementing information technology and telecommunication systems. He has been involved in many industries ranging from banking, health care, manufacturing and publishing, and recently served on the Genesee County Legislative Committee for IT Review.

Donna Ehrhart Donna J. Ehrhart
Professor of Business and Computer Information Systems

Donna Ehrhart has taught full time at Genesee for over 18 years and also has taught as an adjunct at SUNY Brockport for 12 years. Currently, she serves on several Genesee advisory boards, is a member of BOCES advisory board, President of the Women’s Council at RIT, and Board of Trustee of RIT, Judge for the New York State DECA Conference, and also past President of the Women’s Investment Network. She has presented at conferences regionally and nationally, and has published articles as well as written and edited textbook materials. In 2003-2004 she received the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Jim Habermas Jim Habermas
Professor of Computer Information Systems

Jim Habermas has spent over 26 years at Genesee teaching full time, as well as 18 years of teaching as adjunct for SUNY Brockport, and 4 years as an adjunct at RIT. Before entering the educational profession he has worked as a web designer and payroll programmer. Jim currently serves on the Board of Directors for Mt. Morris BOCES. During his teaching tenure he has earned the Outstanding Teaching National Award (1988), the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching (1989), and in 1996 he was instrumental in receiving a $96,000 grant from Microsoft for Excellence in Educational Technology on the World Wide Web.

Ken Mead Kenneth J. Mead
Professor of Mathematics & Computer Information Systems

Since 1990, Kenneth Mead has been actively teaching math and computer systems courses at Genesee, and he has also served as a network and server specialist for the college since 2000. Ken’s numerous distinctions and awards include: SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Scholarship and Creativity (2005), SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching (1996), Genesee President’s Distinguished Service Award (1996) and the NISOD Teaching Excellence Award (1994). He has been a member of NYS Mathematics Association for Two Year Colleges for 12 years, and has helped secure more than $275,000 in grants from the National Science Foundation during his tenure.

Marina Cappellino Marina Cappellino
Associate Professor of Computer Systems and Network Technologies

Marina Cappellino has been teaching at Genesee for seven years and specializes in the essential field of Network Security. She has worked in conjunction with the University at Buffalo to secure a $50,000 grant from the National Science Foundation for network security related projects at Genesee Community College. She attends numerous conferences and workshops to remain current on this emerging industry, reporting new findings to both students and colleagues. In addition, she has brought in outside guests to speak on network security related topics of interest to students, faculty, staff and community members. Marina also actively supports the College’s marketing initiatives particularly the television and print advertising.

Tim Hinz Timothy Hinz
Associate Professor of Information Technology

Tim Hinz began his teaching career at Genesee Community College as an adjunct instructor in 1998. He became a full-time faculty member in 2000. He has also worked as an adjunct instructor at ECC teaching Basic / Visual programming, and has taught at the Summer Institute with BOCES.

Shawn Krest Shawn Krest
Assistant Professor

Shawn Krest has been teaching at Genesee for the past seven years. He previously helped develop the credit scoring and mathematical modeling division at MBNA America Bank, managing it for several years. Prior to that, he served as project manager on several pricing and yield management projects for American Airlines and Sabre Decision Technologies. At Genesee, he continues to serve as a member of the Academic Senate having been elected to three terms as faculty representative on GCCA. Shawn is also an award winning fiction writer and editor of Sports & Leisure Magazine. His sports writing has also appeared in the Sporting News.
