Complete Withdraw Checklist
We recommend that you use this checklist as a guide to help you make sure that you haven't forgotten something important.
Are you registered for classes (current or next semester)?
- It's important to Drop or Withdraw your classes before you leave GCC and obtain a paper copy of your registration schedule to retain as a receipt.
- You can log on to GenESIS or stop by the Records Office for a paper copy showing results.
Are you changing addresses?
You need to do so in writing. You can stop by the Records Office and file the change in person.
Are you receiving financial aid?
If you received Title IV financial aid (Pell, SEOG, Stafford Loan or PLUS Loan) to assist you with your education expenses:
Class attendance is required to earn your financial aid. If you withdraw or stop attending all of your classes, for any reason, before completing 60% of the semester, Genesee Community College must calculate and return to the Federal Government the unearned portion of your financial aid. In addition to repaying your portion of any unearned financial aid grants to the U.S. Department of Education, you may also owe the College for outstanding tuition and fees. Failure to repay any balance owed to the U.S. Department of Education may jeopardize your ability to receive any federal financial assistance in the future at Genesee Community College and any other college. Please contact the Financial Aid Office if you wish to discuss the financial aid ramifications of no longer attending classes.
Have you verified that you owe no tuition, fees, or fines?
It's critical that you clear all outstanding balances before you leave GCC; or request a refund of any balance due you.
Have you spoken with an advisor?
If you wish to contact an advisor to learn how a complete withdrawal will affect you academically, please contact anyone from the list of academic advisors or call 345-6805.
Have you returned materials borrowed from the Library?
If you have outstanding Library fines or any Library materials checked out, a hold will be placed on your record, preventing you from receiving your grades or a transcript. Please contact the Library to clear your account.
