Applying for Aid

The process of applying for Financial Aid starts with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA may be completed online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. It is easy to do! You will need a personal identification number (PIN) to complete the FAFSA online. To request a PIN go to www.pin.ed.gov. If you are a dependent student your parent will need a pin too.

To complete the financial aid forms you will need Genesee's Federal and State code numbers.

Once you have completed and submitted the FAFSA, New York State will send you another form called the Express TAP (Tuition Assistance Program) application. You will have to complete the TAP application and send it to Albany. It takes four to six weeks to be processed. If you are eligible for a loan, you will need to select a lending institution.

Part-time students may also be eligible for aid. To apply you must file an APTS (Aid for Part-time Students) form. You may request an APTS form from the Financial Aid Office.
