Thousands of students have discovered that Genesee Community College is the right place to start a college education. You get all the attention of a small, private school, and a lot of the same opportunities you'd find at a large university - without the hefty price tag. You can spend two years here, then transfer to a four-year school to complete your degree by entering into what is called a transfer agreement.
| Transfer Agreement - essentially a contract between Genesee, the student, and the college or university the student wants to transfer to after earning a two-year degree. |
There are two basic types of transfer agreements, articulation agreements and dual admission agreements.
- An articulation agreement spells out
requirements for students who wish to transfer to a particular program.
Because institutions independently determine all of the requirements for
their programs, articulation agreements differ from program to program
and from school to school.
- A dual admissions agreement, sometimes called a joint or cooperative degree program, guarantees students acceptance to specific programs at certain institutions upon completion of an associate's degree. Genesee also has a selection of 1+1 and 3+1 agreements in special program areas that are similar in nature to the dual admissions agreements.
